The mission of the department is to plan, design and implement Teaching-Learning System effectively with a focus on Sanskrit pedagogy. Along with encouragement of innovative programmes in Sanskrit pedagogy, the mission of the department is also centered towards interdisciplinary approach in research with a focus on Shastric education. To achieve this mission, the department has excellent infrastructure with instructional facilities. The faculty consists of members from both traditional and modern areas of knowledge and well qualified in their respective areas and specialization. The students of Shiksha Shastri (B.Ed.) programme are trained for teaching Sanskrit language and Shastric subjects like Sahitya, Darshan, Vyakarn and Jyotish, etc. with modern subjects at school level. In Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) programme students are prepared to become Teacher Educators. Dissertation is a compulsory component of this programme. The dissertation work of M.Ed. are specially based on different aspects of education in ancient and modern perspectives such as problems of educational administration, policies of education, inclusive education, philosophical, psychological and sociological aspects of education, innovative teaching-learning and critical analysis of ancient Indian literature. In Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) programme research scholars peruse their research work on different areas of traditional & modern education system. The department conducts 6-month course work for Ph.D. students in accordance with the UGC Regulations. The curriculum for all the programmes are designed to encompass all the important aspects of Teacher Education with special emphasis on Indian Knowledge System, Gender sensitization, ICT integration, methodological innovation, learner friendly pedagogy, professional ethics, life skills, yoga education, human rights and interdisciplinary research. The Department also publishes an annual magazine-"Shiksha Jyoti" which fosters creative expressions among students.
